my lab bitch is 9 months old she has had one kidney removed and i have been advised not to have her spayed as the reason for this op was that she was incontinent due to kidney damage and the ureta did not go into the kidney she is now in season and i have been reading up on this site but would like to see what other people think

    Re: spaying

Hi there and welcome to the forum. :)

Sorry to hear that your dog had to have her kidney removed. That must have been a worrying time for you.

I would not want to comment or advise you on what you should do with regard to spaying, except to say that it sounds like something you really need to decide together with your vet. Only they will have the information needed to make such a decision and the knowledge necessary to predict the outcome of spaying your bitch in her present condition.

It might help if he or she could explain to you how spaying your bitch would influence her existing health issues.

Was there any reason you particularly wanted to have her spayed? And are there any aspects of keeping her entire that you are especially worried about?

thank you for your message i am worried about keeping her not spayed from the point of view that it maybe difficult to stop her getting out if somone forgets to shut doors etc and as she is very young this will be the case for possibly years
