Highly recommend treats costing £1 and consisting of 4 Small Log Bones which are available in either Booker's or The Pound Shop. They come in various flavours (Chicken/Beef) and I cut each stick with a sharp knife into 4 treats making a total of 16 which lasts a week. Benson will die for them!

For a special treat Natures:Menu freeze dried treats. They are not cheap but great for a special attention getting treat. My cats love the cat version as well - Juno is quite happy to eat the cat version as well!

I just got a kilo of fresh sprats for £3 at Tesco. They are in the freezer ready for the training sessions requiring high value treats. Mira adores fish so I hope they have the desired effect :D

I bought a 2kg box of sea jerky to stuff into Scott ans Scout's Kong goodie bones. Not easy I have to cut them up with secateurs. They loved them though but got very good at getting them out of the goodie bone. Once the fish was gone I'd wedge 4 pieces of kibble at a time. I was trying to think of a way to make it harder for them to get stuff out. Yesterday I soaked 12 pieces of kibble wedged 2 dry pieces in the middle of the bone and bunged the end up with the squishy kibble. S&S love it. It takes them longer then getting the sea jerky out. Once finished they sit and wait expectantly while I reload. This morning scout actually gave up on a bit of fish still stuck in his bone because he wanted soggy kibble. It would appear soggy kibble is higher value than sea jerky !!! I could've saved a lot of money if I'd just thought of it sooner. ::)

They obviously haven't read the advertising blurb! :D

I haven't seen the Kong bones irl - they sound good. Roughly how long does it take them to get through one? Presumably you could freeze them like with a regular Kong to make them last even longer.

Yes you could freeze them. If I get the sea jerky wedged in well it takes at least 10 minutes but I'm only using one end. Double the time I suppose if you load up both ends. The sea wraps from fish4dogs fit better but I've now got a big box of sea jerky to use up. ::). My dogs like to chew and they can hold the goodie bones and chew on them breaking up the treat inside to release it easier than a normal Kong. They will also carry on chewing on the bone after the treats have gone. They are very robust because Scout is a big power chewer and there are only minor tooth marks very little damage. :)
