willow is left on her own from 12.45pm to 3pm, she goes a wee before i go but when i come back she has most of the time wee'd. she can go longer than this generally so not sure if doing because on her own? she has been used to thsi routine since she was 9 weeks old.

she is still not dry at night and we let her out at 11.30pm (she has a short walk at 10.30pm) and by 3am she needs to go out again, some nights its 5am but she is weeing and then crying to tell us !

    any ideas please?

    hi

she is 13 weeks tomorrow and she sleeps in the kitchen (never used a crate) and when we are not there she is kept in the kitchen.

she was fine at the begining but last 2 weeks now and again she is weeing during the day but never left longer than 3 hours

Most 13 week old puppies will wee during the night and day if uncrated and unsupervised. They are not used to the sensation of a full bladder and will only 'hold on' if they are in a place which they are highly motivated to keep clean - which means confining the puppy to its bed, or holding it in your arms.

Obviously you can't hold her in your arms whilst you are out or asleep, so a crate is the best solution.

If you don't want to use a crate, you need to use the old fashioned method and put down an area of newspaper or puppy pads, for her to wee on.

many thanks for your reply. will she stop doing as she gets older or wil it just turn into a habit ? i worry it will continue as she thinks its ok to wee in the house? she can hold it for that amount of time but is weeing anyway

We had a similar problem having a crate that was too large for Charlie. Pippa suggested a smaller crate and we have had no accidents day or night since and Charlie will now go for 7 hours at night without wetting and 4 hours in the day (although I've only left him for that length of time in the day once so it may be a fluke!) He loves his crate and chooses to go in it with the door left open when we are at home and he wants a nap so I don't feel it's too harsh to crate him. Thanks for recommending it Pippa, you really do know your stuff when it comes to dogs...you are an angel!

    Hi there.
She's still very young and her bladder is teeny weeny. The first thing I would recommend is start using a crate. That will help extend the time she manages to hold on a little. Don't get one that's too large. There is lots of info on here about the size of crate etc.
my pup is 16 weeks old today and she still has the occasional wee and sometimes if we're really lucky shell do a poo for us too! But the dry/clean nights are increasing. It will come with time and maturity
