As next week is half term, we are going to start total recall with barley, i am slightly nervous, and a bit exited, as i know what a pain he is. We have stocked up on high value treats such as Liver cake, heart cake, chunks of cooked liver, chunks of cooked heart, packets of cat wet food, chunks of cooked bacon, cheese, chunks of chicken and ham & cheese treats. He will be on the training line, until we can be certain that he will come back even from distractions, so it is going to be a lot of hard work, but we are willing to put the effort into it

    Wish us luck :)

    Day 1, session 1

Barley thought that it was great, he got treats for just being there and hearing a whistle

New tactic: Having to use cat food instead of treats as treats are not interesting enough, even liver cake, so gonna try that tommorow, and try with his food tonight as well

On the menu today is felix chicken and turkey in jelly, split into 3 equally sized pots, outcome of whistle one, much more attentive and could not wait to get his face into pot of cat food, looks like i have found a winner

Great work Annabelle and Barley, I might just try cat food for Charlies' recall - a bit smelly though but who cares if it works

Yes cat food does stink, but it gets barley working, it also got him working at agility, but we also had every other dog at agility very interested in me as well ::)

I wandered around with a pouch of cat food in my jackets for months ;D
Eventually used it for a really good recall with some low key wildlife, but not got around to replacing it - good idea I think, must look it out again!

We have a whole box full of pouches and a few trays, most of them were in a 50% of sale, so they were 19p per pouch. We found cat pouches better than dog pouches as 1. they were smaller 2. they were usually more fish based 3. there are cheaper in the first place
