Hi to all! Boston has got the stinkiest nose at the moment! We thought he smelt generally bad suddenly on Sunday morning when we approached his crate, and wondered if he was emitting some yummy bone marrow smells from a nice butcher's bone the day before. But by last night the downstairs of our house had a fragrant aroma... I gave his face a flannel wash last night as I knew the smell was confined to that area, upon closer inspection I can smell the smell on his nose. His ears are fine, he has occasionally rubbed his face on the floor in the last few days. Do you think he might have some sort of nasal infection? He is not having any breathing trouble etc, no runny nose, it's just the smell!
Re: Stinky nose! Weird, I've never heard of this before. If he's rubbing his face on the floor I'd say there is something going on there, might not be a bad idea to either call the vet or pop him in for a visit.
Re: Stinky nose! I would check with the vets. Never heard of this before. Let us know what they say. Fingers crossed Boston has just had his nose in places he shouldn't
Re: Stinky nose! Has he rubbed his face in something like fox poo? The smell lasts forever, even after all visible traces are gone.
Re: Stinky nose! It doesn't smell like fox poo although i'm sure there are lots of varieties :-\ Apparently he dug up an old ball yesterday which stank, but I would have thought having a wash would have solved that. I guess he has dipped his nose in something, I can't work out what else it could be. I can't really explain it except to say its like a wet towel that has been screwed up and left to go smelly! Thanks all, I'll keep an eye (nose!) on it and ring the vet tomorrow if it's no better. Weird!
Re: Stinky nose! If you wiped his face it seems it is his nose rather than something going on in his mouth like a bad tooth? We don't seem to come across the desert fox poo that definitely exists here but Dexter did once have an almighty pong about him so I think he must have found some or similar and eaten it....it really was dreadful,I washed his face with puppy shampoo several times .....cleaned his teeth and am ashamed to admit that I used human toothpaste to try and get a minty smell about him...Chris my Husband later admitted he gave him a polo mint ....joking aside if you are worried a pop down to the vet will put your mind at rest x
Re: Stinky nose! If it was a child I would blame t on a foreign body stuck up the nostril until proven otherwise! Vet if not some reduced whiffiness tomorrow??
Re: Stinky nose! Years ago I discovered a piece of a stick lodged in the roof of my Corgi's mouth. He made no motions that it was bothering him at all. I found it when he got close and I got a whiff of it. It must have been there for several days and it smelled bad! I hope they figure out what it is with your pup.
Re: Stinky nose! I really hope Boston hasn't got something nasty stuck up his nose poor boy, hope he feels better very soon xx
Re: Stinky nose! Well Boston smells a lot better today I'm pleased to report, but tonight I am going to have another look in his mouth just in case as I must admit as his mouth didn't seem to be the source I did not venture too deep into there!
