Firstly I am booking Obi in to see the vet and will update as soon as we've seen him.

    In the meantime.....

Obi seems to have a patch of skin with thinner fur a bit bigger than a 50p piece. The skin underneath feels a little rough and has black speckles on it. His skin under his white fur is usually pink.

I'm prepared for it to be nothing more than a grubby dry patch of skin or it could be something else entirely......

If anyone has advice on questions to ask or things to check do let me know :D

Photo please and I'll tell you a lot more. Are the black speckles actual blackheads? If so, it may well be a localised patch of demodicosis, especially if it is on the head or forelimbs. I would be asking for deep skin scrapes if he were mine.

I've wrestled with Obi for 10 minutes and tried treats and chews and it's impossible to get him to hold still for a photo on my own ::) ::) ::)

Will try and get something when OH is home!!

I was thinking ringworm as well but would've thought that would've been more red than black. :-\

Fingers crossed its nothing but a bit of a graze.

I'm afraid I will have to admit to googling some pictures of ringworm none of which look anything like Obi's patch. So fingers crossed that's not it. He's still got some fur over it which is making a photograph really hard as it's just coming out white ::) If the fur wasn't thinning I would just think it was pigmentation or dirt! It may still be that and the product of my fertile imagination but better safe than sorry ;D

Vet appointment this afternoon so will let you know !

Thank you everyone for your concern :)

hhhmmmmmmm well I wasn't imagining it so that's good

vet opinion - whatever it was has finished as there's no inflammation or lesion

verdict - keep an eye on it but not a worry at this point

Glad everything went well at the vets. :D

Take a photo as best you can then don't look at it for a day or two (if you can difficult I know). That's what I do or I start checking every five minutes. ::)
