Sam has a major problem with fats, he simply cant handle them so is on a very low fat regime. Its not been easy to get the balance right but we have been doing really well, he has settled well and is loads better than he has been , until yesterday :( Walking at the woods, he was ahead of me and went to meet and greet a lady and her dog , too late I saw her give him something to eat , legged it over to ask what she had fed him , only two flippin sausage rolls   That's all it took, my lad was sick in the night , why do people think its ok to do this ??

What?? I'd be furious. Poor Sam. I hope you see her again so you can tell her how ill he was due to her thoughtlessness.

Oh Kate I am sorry for poor Sam. You can buy bright dog collars they say 'DO NOT FEED" might be worth it if he goes ahead of you again and someone thinks it's OK to feed him  xx

Most annoying! I think the collar idea is good as he has a food intolerance - just for his safety sake?

Oh no! :( some people really are quite thoughtless, I'm sure they don't mean any harm by it, but it can be so frustrating!

I agree the 'do not feed' collar sounds like a good idea, even if it's just something you put on for walks. The Gizapaw leash sleeves can also be put onto collars and the inserts are removable so you can interchange them and write your own - it's also hi vis yellow with a warning triangle on!

Its so annoying when people think they can do whatever they want, either feeding or training, with YOUR dog. I'm sure this person was well meaning, but she certainly shoukd have asked. Yeesh.

Hope Sam is feeling better today Kate? :-\

It's amazing people think it's ok to give a dog they don't know food !!! My old lab had a similar problem he basically couldn't eat human food. One time a stranger fed him a whole corn beef sandwich unbelievable.

I usually have kibble in my pocket. If I stop to talk to someone with a dog I always ask if it's ok to give the dog a biscuit and my treats are very unlikely to do harm.

Sam is fine this morning thank you , its amazing how just that relatively small amount of fatty food can upset the balance for him and he had been doing so well , the collar idea is great , maybe a notice like at the zoo, please do not feed this dog :)

Glad that Sam is better today. It was so thoughtless of the person who fed him.

So stupid ! she could kill a dog if she isn't careful. My Elsie is wheat intolerant and the late Mollie was wheat intolerant and would get terrible problems with fat and pork, a combination like a sausage roll could have killed her !
