I was just on my way back from walking murphy, and saw on a byway (we were up on Salisbury plain) a car driving along with a little jack Russell running as fast it could to catch up! So we stopped and we could see their back window was open so wondered if it had jumped out but it then became apparent that they were doing it deliberately! I turned down the byway to follow them and they had let another dog out that looked a bit like a shitzu and then they drove off again so that was also chasing them! Then When they saw we were behind they stopped and a lady got out and called the dogs to them and my sis got out and shouted that that was a very dangerous way to walk their dogs, And the woman just shook her head and walked off and put them back in the car. We then had to follow them as there was no where to turn around and they pulled over and a bloke got out with a walking stick so we drove past and went home. But they drove along quite a distance and the dogs were obviously knackered, and I know that it would have been very stressful for them so I'm rather annoyed!!
Re: Stupid people walking their dogs! That's exactly how our neighbour (the farmer) walks his dogs. Drives up to the end of his track that runs alongside our house, lets the dogs out of the car, and they run home along his tracks following the car. Gosh he loves those dogs. ??? To be fair, they are on his own farm tracks rather than public roads so they're not in any danger.
Re: Stupid people walking their dogs! Did you get the car number? You could have mentioned it to the RSPCA who 'might' do something about it; though they are pretty useless on the whole.

We know someone who did the same back in Yorkshire with their Labrador ...they didn't mention it to us until we got Dexter and we were talking about walking.Their vet had told them off in no uncertain terms saying how phenomenally stressful it was for a dog to experience :'(

Re: Stupid people walking their dogs! I've seen several people do this here over the years. There's one girl I vaguely know who has had weight-loss surgery but "walks" her dog from her car! Just get walking and burn a few calories!!
Re: Stupid people walking their dogs! Sadly I see it too in our village, a sheep farmer lets his 2 Collies run behind his Land Rover A friend of mine does it with her Husky cross on a long line out of the car window. It breakes my heart as it must be so stressful for their dogs :'( :'( xx
Re: Stupid people walking their dogs! I have found the RSPCA completely unresponsive to dome things too; it's like they want you to do all of the investigation before they will act. I find this kind of thing so upsetting that it keeps me awake at night.
