So for the last several weeks Pongo has been really flat. I put it down to the hot weather, but it is now fresh and cool outside and he hasn't perked up. He is not acting "ill" - anyone who doesn't know him wouldn't see any issue at all - and he is not off his food or showing any distress. But he is much quieter and more placid than usual, he seems to get tired more quickly than in the past, and is spending a lot of time flopped down (though not asleep).
We are going on a big long SW pack walkies tomorrow so I'll see how he gets on.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what might be up? Maybe he is just growing up.....?

How old is Pongo? If he is OK in all other ways maybe he is simply growing up all of a sudden. It could be that you have been working his brain more with your slack lead walking and training Rosie?

I hope he perks up when he sees all his buddies tomorrow :doug: Have a lovely SW walk xx :)

Lilly was noticeably more...."subdued"....as she got older. Certainly by 3 or 4 yrs I would say she changed.
Don't think it was sudden, but one of those things we noticed after getting her back from a holiday with the SIL we put down to missing her play buddy, but without really going back to how we remembered her. If that doesn't seem odd. All of a sudden grew up.

Hope our big lad is okay xx

Sure just growing up and sure he will be fine. I have noticed similar with Vanilla after either a hot spell takes her some time to get back to normal or training her mind ie: walking on lead other training etc.

Hope Pongo enjoyed the walk yesterday. Perhaps he is just 'growing up'. Wispa can be very calm and quiet now, spending much time just lazing around, but soon springs into action when visitors come!

    Thank you everyone!
Pongo had a great time yesterday, a 9 mile walk (for humans) so at least 12 miles for the dogs. He's hungover today  but I think we've established that there's nothing really wrong with him!

Unlikely as it sounds, maybe he is just growing up. He is the grand old age of three and a half now, after all....
