I have to say that barley was such a good boy throughout this whole episode even though he tried his best to deafen us with his screaming ::).

He has his keen cough booster, and had a full check up including ears. The vet found a grass seed in his ear , been there for a while as it was black. The vet managed to pull it out without having to sedate him, which saved us a good £100.

The reason this was such a suprise was that he had given us no indication that he had a problem with his ear, other than a bit more scratching than usual that is why i wanted the vet to check his ears. No head tilt like he has had before when grass seeds have been in his ears. Goodness knows how long that had been in there and how long it would have still been in there if i had not got his ears checked.

As an update on x-rays, for getting all 4 legs x-rayed which will be 7 plates and a general anesthetic it would cost around £300, but that is going on him being over 40kg, so it will be less if he is under, so the diet starts now to get him on the 30-40kg weight scale and not above 40kg. Dad has not booked them yet as he wants to think it over first and discuss it with mum.

yep, trying to convince barley that it will do him good is not working, he insists on being fed more. he is now on 1 scoop of kibble and 1/2 can of wet food with 1/2 can of water added to it, along with his usual supplements and his 20g training treat allowence.

Arden grange light is a good dry food to help weight loss. Meg was overweight a few years ago (long story) and the Arden grange really helped with her weight loss.

we have tried him on various light food before, but they just made him hungrier, so we ended up feeding him more than we would on normal food.

He is currently on James wellbeloved lamb and vegetables grain free food, got another 6 days left of this, then another 2 bags of wainwrights grain free, only rabbit and one lamb.

He is now only getting 125g of kibble instead of 175g kibble but still 1/2 can of wet food so that he east his joint stuff.

Hopefully going to get him weighed once a week so we can keep track of how much he is loosing or if he is gaining any and adjust his food accordingly.
