Ok we are really nervous lol, does anyone have any tips or can suggest any essential item I must have? Scout is 7 months and isn't the best behaved pup outside. 2 days and 2 nights at finchale abbey, co Durham. They allow dogs but not children so just one major distraction. Lots of toys, treats and poo bags are at the top of our "caravan dog list" We love to go camping/caravanning and this will be Scouts first ever sleep outside the home sines getting her. :0) xx
Re: Taking puppy to the caravan for the 1st time! One of the most important things to take would be his own bed or something that has his scent on it. Don't forget your lead. And have fun
Re: Taking puppy to the caravan for the 1st time! Enjoy your break with Scout just make sure you take his usual bed/blankets he likes
Re: Taking puppy to the caravan for the 1st time! We'll be taking Max back to Cornwall in a few weeks time but it's our own caravan. I hope you can manage to relax and enjoy having him out and about camping
Re: Taking puppy to the caravan for the 1st time! Oh....I do hope you have fun! If it was me, I would be taking a ground stake, just to make sure I had somewhere secure to tether my dog outside when otherwise occupied. Good luck
Re: Taking puppy to the caravan for the 1st time! Have a lovely time and I bet Scout will be very well behaved x
Re: Taking puppy to the caravan for the 1st time! I hope the sun shines for you all! Remember dog towels if not...
Re: Taking puppy to the caravan for the 1st time! Yes have a great time. Scout will love it. Agree that you can't have too many dog towels. Even if it's fine they stay wet for ages after a swim in the river.
Re: Taking puppy to the caravan for the 1st time! Thanks everyone. Ok towels- check, her own bed- check , plenty toys and treats- check and her lead plus a spare lead- check... I have wrote a list. Thankfully it's our own caravan so if there is any damage it shouldn't be too much hassle. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly. Thanks again xxx
Re: Taking puppy to the caravan for the 1st time! Sounds like you are fully prepared Hope you all have a wonderful time.
Re: Taking puppy to the caravan for the 1st time! Have a great time, my parents have always taken their dogs to their caravan .....no problems at all except when one of the spaniels pinched. A sausage off a neighbours bbq ;D x
Re: Taking puppy to the caravan for the 1st time! Scout was an absolute star, she was quiet and patient <- spelling) when we were setting up and packing up, she slept through the night, no accidents in the caravan, she never chased the peacocks or the funny looking chicken things and she only escape the awning once but she came straight back (thank god) as soon as I called her. She was a natural and will enjoy many more trips away. Thanks again for all the advice :0D
Re: Taking puppy to the caravan for the 1st time! Sounds great. Bet you are relieved she took to it well
Re: Taking puppy to the caravan for the 1st time! Well done Scout, so glad you had such a successful holiday and here's to many more xx
Re: Taking puppy to the caravan for the 1st time! That's fantastic news! So glad you all had a lovely time together
Re: Taking puppy to the caravan for the 1st time! We love caravanning with the dogs. Have you tried Doe Park in Teesdale, it's fantastic for dogs. A river to swim in, lots of off lead walks straight off the site. Children are allowed but usually well behaved and the pitches are on the big side so lots of room.
Re: Taking puppy to the caravan for the 1st time! Iv not heard of it no but i will look in our book and see if its there. Thanks
