    Hi all

I need tasty treat ideas for clicker training that are fish based.

I think some of the tummy sensitivity with my 2 is my own fault. Ive been careful what I feed them because of how sensitive my old dog was. Probably too careful!

I've been using liver treats for clicker training over the last couple of weeks but I think it is causing them to be looser even though it's hypoallergenic ! ( I am ridiculously paranoid about diarrhea ::))

Pippa suggests toast in Total Recall. I thought about trying that does anybody know how tolerated that is by dogs digestive system?

The other thing I know they are fine with is fish. I have some salmon treats but use them sparingly as I think they are probably quite rich. I was thinking of breaking a couple up in a tub with toast so the toast would smell of them. ???

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

    Jen

I use the fish4dogs products - too much sea jerky (fish skin) can give Charlie runny poo, but otherwise the fish based products are fine. They are super smelly - 95% fish, 5% rice. Not too high in calories. Charlie goes crazy for sea wrap treats - a stick of sweet potato wrapped in dried fishskin (it's the solid fish skin treats, sea jerky, that are a problem poo wise). For day to day stuff, I use the fish star treats.

For Charlie though, nothing beats canned or fresh sardine...I cope better with the mess these days.

Dried sprats go down well here and are not too smelly to carry around. At home Bess will work extra hard for a piece of sardine or salmon.

Dried sprats sound great, would also love to know where to get them.

Jen,Dex is really sensitive and I feed him a gastro intestinal kibble to help with it.I tried toast, spread with a little sardine oil to up the appeal!Ihad to judge the oil as too much did make him runny,I got the balance right for his stools but he had awful wind ( bread actually does the same to me.....too much info I know!)so I knocked it off....he now works to a 3 tier reward scheme basic-kibble ,higher reward, steamed chicken breast, highest reward roast chicken, sometimes warm always skin removed ;D
Try the sardine toast....I only fed little pea size portions if it wasn't for the wind I would have carried on x
