After months of training...today was the day...

Benson went on his first training shoot. It was a wonderful day, misty morning, but cold and crisp. We were assigned to a gun, Benson was given the job of picking up. He sat patiently watching the gun like a hawk. Then the time came, and he was off like a shot to retrieve the shot pheasant. He hesitated for a second, slightly surprised at what he found, then picked it up and raced straight back to deliver to hand. Good boy. He had three retrieves, all great, apart from a little parade with the last one! The flushing dogs got a bit close behind a fence...and he just HAD to show them how clever he was! :D

So proud of my show-bred chocolate lab. Now completely zonked out on the sofa. :)

All the dogs did really well. It was a fun day, lots of learning, and things to improve. Great opportunity in a training environment to see how it all hinges together :)

Yes, that is my hubby @Bensons-dad (Marcus). He came along to help out while I handled Benson. Everyone was so friendly, lots of laughter and banter. Benson just loved it! :)

Marcus has a very happy smile which was what attracted me to that particular phot:angel: I have been there for one training in October, but not the shootover training.

Not sure where that 'angel face' came from, supposed to be a smile and there should be an on on the end of 'phot'!!

Hehe, you obviously missed out a space between the word "photo" and the smilie, so ended up with the o:) shortcut by mistake :)
