Poor little Pops has hurt her neck (I think she got a thorn in it while retrieving), and has scratched it so badly it is now an open wound, sore and bleeding, so she has to wear The Cone. She HATES it...

Oh bless her, she looks so forlorn, but then Labs are so good at that look arent they ::) Hoping her wound is better soon so that she can get rid of the drated thing :)
Just as an aside , a friend of mine told me about an inflatable cone, bit like a tyre that fits round the neck, easier on passing furniture and much easier for them to sleep in too x

    Hello Karen,
Like Kate, I have been recommended the inflatable collar. Not tried it yet but have it ready in case of need. My dog was really scared wearing the cone when his plum fairy visited ( Debsie). It is called a buster inflatable collar. Meant to be better as it does not restrict field of vision and it's easier to eat, drink etc. Hope Poppy recovers soon :)

Aw, poor girl. She's saying "will someone who is reading this please come and rescue me from this shameful and annoying cone".

Hope she doesn't have to wear it for too long :)

Wound on her neck is still not looking great and she scratches at it every opportunity she gets, so it is The Cone for a while longer I am afraid... She is so good when I put it on, puts her head out obligingly, and then just gives a big sigh and goes and lies down in a dejected fashion... :'(

I will look out for the inflatable cone - but am a bit worried, as you can see on the photo she tried to destroy this one and managed to get hold of a piece of it and chew it (have sorted that now). Would she be able to burst the inflatable cone by scratching???

Hmm I was going to suggest an inflatable cone as they are much more comfortable but the neck can get pretty sweaty underneath them and if this would cover her wound it might not be such a good thing. You can get them on Amazon though.

I dont think the inflatable one will work in this case, because as Lochan says it will cover the wound and not allow it to breathe. There are some soft versions online, I will have to have another look. Hopefully this will be over soon for poor little Poppy!

Well. I caved in last night. Couldnt bear the sad face any longer, so she wore a fleece scarf wrapped around her neck - and slept with me. In my bed. Ahem.

No scratching, and we both slept like babies. In fact, she is still snoozing gently next to me (today is a public holiday in Germany). Not sure what the Other Half would say if he were here - actually I can only too well imagine, and hope he doesn't read posts on here!!! 8)

Must get up as we have a training session this morning... But the bed is so comfy... And warm... Not to mention hairy...!! ::)

Aw, much nicer than a nasty cone :)

Ah, yes, fuzzy fur in the bed. We just pretend that we have expensive angora sheets ;)
