Hello and welcome to the newest section of the forum. In here, we will be posting regular challenges for you to take part in.

Sometimes they will be serious, sometimes fun tricks. The person issuing the challenge will create a video demonstrating the stages to get to the final result, with different variations for different stages of ability where appropriate.

The idea is that, over the timescale given (usually a month), you try to train that trick to your dog, video and post the results in the thread. We'll welcome discussion about any issues you're having training certain parts, and as many progress updates as you wish!

I'm really excited about this new section of the forum, and hope that it can introduce a bit of fun, trying different things with our dogs.

The mods have a long list of things we'll try to include over the coming months, but if you have any ideas of your own, then please do jot them down here. Also, if you'd like to submit your own challenge, let us know and we'll get you set up! We'd especially welcome any challenges to do with any entry-level behaviours for different dog activities, such as agility, flyball etc.

The first challenge will be coming this weekend, so watch this space!

I assume we can post a video from YouTube of something we would LIKE to do, cos me and Lilly have a repertoire starting and finishing with "play dead".

    Great idea, we're in!

I'm going to do them with Tatze as I tend to take her for granted and she doesn't get much training :)

Yes, absolutely! That's more fun, we all get to join in, even the person posting :)

We'll suck it and see. I'm not thinking of closing the challenges at ay point, anyway, and there won't be "a winner". Just thinking along the lines of "This is the challenge for August/Sept/Oct" etc, but there's no problem with people starting August's challenge in October :)

I'm off to watch a agility competition this morning, but will get my camera out later. I'm still not sure what this month's challenge is going to be, but it will probably be something very familiar to many members :)

I actually meant I don't have a camera which can video, or indeed I don't have a camera or camera phone! I wasn't very clear :$

Here is a challenge: teaching a lab to jump over an object, if you have an area with soft ground.
I do this will all my labs to teach them to run straight on blind retrieves. Rarely do they get it on
the first attempt and they naturally will run around a barrier instead of jumping over it.
Also to jump going over and coming back is a challenge for some labs.
