Just as we are getting to the bottom of Corona's numerous infections (possible food allergy), she almost poisoned herself. She ate some Bradford tree berries faster than I get could her away. Quite a bit too, by the amount of them in her vomit. She began vomiting about 30 minutes later non stop. Brought her to my vet who was gracious enough to stay open until we got her there. They gavw her some charcoal to absorb the remainder of the toxin and a shot to stop the continuous vomiting. And then sent to us the emergency clinic for a follow up. She vomited 2 more times there depsite the meds and was oddly OBSSESSIVELY licking the floor. I've never seen a dog do this before. It was like she was in a panic to lick the floor. The emergency vet went with his gut, thinking that she had something stuck somewhere between her mouth and her stomach. He fed her a half a can of food and just like that, she stopped licking AND hasn't vomited since. The poison control center is confident that she doesn't have a true toxicity because she would have other symptoms and that we got things looked after quickly enough. Thank god! Back home now with fingers crossed that she will be fine because we have a snowstorm coming by morning. The vet says if she vomits again, she needs to go back. We don't know whether to cry or laugh. Honestly, this puppy is way more work than both of my kids ever were put together! And by the way, we now have a snow fence surrounding the entire area where this awful tree drops its berries. We are moving at the end of March and will not be planting a Bradford pear tree!

I've never heard of the Bradford Pear - just googled it, it sounds like a horrendous tree. Fingers crossed for Corona's continued recovery xx

Gosh, glad all is well. And sympathies - Charlie was never away from the vet as a puppy. It seemed like it was just one thing after the other. Got him sorted in the end though!

That's definitely a "if I don't laugh, I'll cry" moment - oh Corona! I'm so glad that she's ok, and hopefully you have a quiet night, especially with a storm rolling in.

So far so good. Corona has eaten some prescription canned dog food like she hasn't eaten in a week and kept it down now over 2 hours. Sleeping soundly after a much needed bath. No one could stand her vomit smell any longer. Poor thing. She even played a little and managed to shred a part of her dog bed in the 15 minutes I had to step out. She has never bothered with that before! Oh boy, this one is determined to keep me on my toes! Please let her sleep well tonight, I'm pooped!
