    Lots of different ideas here.

How about "Memories of summer" - that gives people a chance to enter their summer holiday shots and avoids tying people down too tightly.

And were you all happy with the way we chose the winners last time? Or would you like me to ask a professional photographer to do the judging?

    Sounds good.

I liked it that forum members voted on a short list - made it feel like everyone was involved, even if they hadn't entered a photo.

Are we going to say that the photos don't have to be taken by the person posting them?

If we do that, then people would be able to post a professionally taken photograph of their dog. Maybe not such a good thing.. ?

My own feeling is that it is nicer if the photographer is a member of the forum Not sure, what do others think?

Pippa, I think you are right. It may also be fairer to dedicated forum members to have a minimum post count too, even if only, say, 10. This would stop the serial compers with no real interest in Labradors or, indeed, dogs in general.

    Re: The Next Photo Competition

I kind of agree with UB, but I guess a photo comp might attract lurkers to actually come out and post which is good too. Mixed blessings perhaps. I suppose they may never post again, but what do we really lose? Depends on the "prize", a "virtual prize" less likely to attract the serial photocomp entrants?

It would be nice to have a little leeway, but the issue last time was that unless it was a proper "selfie", your favourite picture taken by OH wasn't eligible, and after all, whats his is mine is a strong ethic ;) At the end of the day, it is fun, and we can't PROVE who took a pic - even if you are IN it and we can see both hands, can't be certain as it could be taken with a timer :-\

I would reckon a nice broad brief, with an emphasis on FUN would be best.

How about "The worst photo" competition ? Whenever I take the photo Chepi moves; I had similar low levels of success taking photos of the cycle time trials at Hdmpton in the Olympics: lots of rear wheels exiting the shot! ::)

A big yes to the 'blooper' category at some point in the future though - I foresee a hilarious photo comp!!
