Re: This Labrador has an unusual braking system I watched it, but thought it bit odd, it looks funny and probably is, but then I worried in case there was something wrong. Probably just me and it is an amusing and effective way to stop.

Re: This Labrador has an unusual braking system I was expecting to think there was something wrong before I opened it. But I don't think there is. The dog is hot - lots of labs lie froggy legged when they want to cool down. I think the dog is always stopping to lie down. It's not like it's stopping like that to deliver a retrieve or as part of an exercise that will involved more movement.

Re: This Labrador has an unusual braking system Obi does that sort of thing, but he stops normally first, then lies down, then crawls along on his tummy (the colder and frostier the grass the better). Definitely a 'rapid cooling' system
Re: This Labrador has an unusual braking system Very interesting! Kailey, does the froggy crawl and often lays like that but not to stop during running. We call it her superman pose. The vet said it is a sign of good hips if they can lay like that as well. I never saw my other labs do it but Kailey does it all the time. biorus
