Me too  My friend has a Westie and their 19 year old daughter does exactly the same and Barnaby hates it and growls just like that poor dog. I tell her off for being cruel to her dog and one day he will snap and who can blame him :'( :'(

Poor dog, he looks very unhappy.

Makes me wonder why that dog reacts like that?! It's not normal for a pet dog, surely? Not much getting used to being handled and touched as a puppy I expect. Gosh, it wouldn't be safe to have him around kids.

Maybe he is in pain and they haven't bothered to take him to the vet, who knows, but he really does look so unhappy :(

I don't understand why people think this is funny. How could you ever think this is normal?

I know some people who have a son who had a Golden Retriever. The son had a baby who eventually became a toddler. The toddler was allowed to crawl all over the dog, pull the dog's ears, tread on its tail etc etc etc. The toddler was left alone with the dog at times. One day the dog bit the toddler. They had the dog put down. They could not understand why the dog had bitten! It had been fine before! After all, the baby had often crawled all over the dog without a problem!!! Idiots.

Afraid I cannot bear to look at the link, coward that I am. I think I have mentioned before about a dog put down because it bit the child, vet examined dog afterwards and found a pencil shoved down its ear. Children should learn to respect dogs and humans as well as many children are uncontrollable these days.

Sorry but I say bite the kid

It annoys me so much things like that and when you hear these awful stories in the news of children being attacked or killed. Yes it's terrible but it's not the dogs fault. Whatever made the dog react like that it was being a dog.

I would never ever leave a baby or child alone with any dog. Even my old Murphy who'd grown up with all my cousins children and was great with kids I wouldn't have left. It's not fair on them.

That's a trip to A&E in the making for that kid and a one way trip to the vets for the poor dog, no doubt too :( .

When I was a child my uncle had a Jack Russell who didn't like to be touched by children, if we went near it and it growled, we got a smack and a good telling off. It certainly taught us to treat animals with the respect they deserve.

Re: This makes me sooooooooo cross!

Interesting article! Especially the info about the parents...

Just had a real-life episode regarding this whole topic. We discovered last fall, just before the winter set in, that one of our neighbours had got a beagle puppy a few months back. He and Simba had a wonderful zoom around their yard while we chatted, and I was thinking, great! Simba will have a energetic dog close by that he can play with once spring comes....

Nope. I remarked to hubby that I hadn't seen/heard the beagle for awhile, he said he just happened to see the dog out front a little while ago and went and told them the dog was free. They didn't care, the dog had just bitten their grandchild, and were not happy with it.

The dog is gone, not sure where, hopefully they re-homed it but hard to say :-\
