Hello, I have not posted on here for a while as we have been making good headway with our choccy pup, now 16 months old though so probably not really a pup anymore. My question is whether to get him neutered or not. Our vet broached this subject with us the last time we were there and we said we would think about. If we do go down this route, is there a good or bad age to do so. We have heard so many different stories on the correct or incorrect age to do this. He is very excitable still, still jumps up & does not have total recall, he loses focus when in a group of other dogs and people and we had wondered if neutering would help with some of this behaviour. Thanks in advance

Hello, neutering only helps with over sexualised behaviour. What you describe are normal teenage lab issues that only resolve with consistent training. I have had 2 dogs. My first died intact age 13. My second was neutered age 9 when we got a bitch and he was overly keen on her. My vet won’t neuter unless there are specific reasons. We are in the U.K. as I know different countries have different laws in this. Good luck with your decision, it’s not an easy one.
