Hi Well another update on Toby. He's recovered well from his surgery to remove 2 gold balls and a tennis ball from his stomach. All was going well but again his bladder problem returned (this is what we originally took him to the vets for). He began with the drip, drip, drip again but then there would be a massive gush of pee. He's never peed in the house since he was a puppy but he's done it over 6 times yesterday and been on about 12 walks to relieve his bladder. He's been back to the vets who think he has prostate cysts so he's booked in for the day on Tuesday for further investigation and upon the results he may need further surgery. The vet told us not to google prostate cysts as it would scare us so I'm going to listen to a man for once in my life and no do any internet searches on this. Ill let you know how things go. Mind you when the vet checked him originally he was rubbing his bladder to feel for anything and as soon as he done this Toby peed for well over 45 seconds. However I would avoid doing this yourself in an open field due to the strange looks you get off people.
Re: Toby the golf ball bladder problem Lab Oh no, poor Toby :'( he's certainly going through the wars at the minute. Fingers crossed that all goes well at the vets next week x
Re: Toby the golf ball bladder problem Lab I am so sorry to hear this news , poor Toby, he really is having a rough time , fingers crossed for him, get well soon x

Re: Toby the golf ball bladder problem Lab My goodness poor Toby (and you)! Hope this is all soon behind him!
Re: Toby the golf ball bladder problem Lab Poor Toby. You are having a real run of bad luck aren't you. Do hope it goes well at the vet next week.
Re: Toby the golf ball bladder problem Lab Oh no Toby you poor, poor boy I will be keeping everything crossed for Tuesday, please keep us posted. Hugs to Toby xx
Re: Toby the golf ball bladder problem Lab Well Toby is home. The vet thinks it's an infection as no sign of any cysts. He's on some antibiotics so with any luck it should clear. The vet said please pick him up he's cried for 2 hours and he never rarely makes any noise - in fact neither he or his brother ever bark. Thank you for all the support. I'm hoping this is the end of his bad luck run.
Re: Toby the golf ball bladder problem Lab Fingers crossed things start looking up for you both. Big tummy rubs for Toby x
Re: Toby the golf ball bladder problem Lab Ah, I hope Toby gets sorted soon - was he sedated? My boy cries like an 8 week old after sedation.
Re: Toby the golf ball bladder problem Lab Yes he was sedated. I couldn't believe when I went to collect him that it was my dog making the noise. Ive even had to buy fairy cakes to bury his tablets in when it time to take them. The vet says labs are dumb but I beg to differ. He's more than aware when I place a tablet in his breakfast. He eats all his food and still manages to leave the tablet.
Re: Toby the golf ball bladder problem Lab I remember reading and it might have been on this forum, to dip the pill in butter, I did that and it was down my Lab's throat without a second's thought ;D
Re: Toby the golf ball bladder problem Lab Philadelphia cheese or any cheese spread come to that. Works a treat. With my old lab before I found the cream cheese method I used to hide the tablet in a piece of sausage. Throw him a couple of pieces of empty sausage then the loaded sausage. If he got a hint of tablet he would let it fall then let every piece of sausage after that fall to the ground, sniff it, eat if not loaded. No way are they dumb. ;D I hope Toby feels better soon and the antibiotics work quickly. Fingers crossed.
Re: Toby the golf ball bladder problem Lab cheddar cheese can usually be squashed round a tablet unless it's very posh and too crumbly
