My morning today: two dogs bathed after emergency trip to PAH for Fox Poo Shampoo, washing machine had to cope with 2 large towels,1 chamois leather, two pieces of vet bed, 2 collars and 2 harnesses. Washing machine filter blocked by fur, etc, had to be drained and cleaned. Car had semi-professional deep clean of the boot - despite boot liner and cage they had got it somehow on the carpet up the sides. Total time on walk - 2 hours. Total time on clean-up operation - 2.5 hours including fixing washing machine. Car still smells. Dogs still smell. Office staff complaining at work that there is a funny smell, blaming practice cleaner, me and dogs trying to look innocent......
Re: Today's fox poo incident Short of a new car and new dogs, you're stuck with the olfactory assault I'm only happy because it's nearly a week since Theakston's last offence... had to bath them both because they had travelled back in the same boot together, had to clean bathroom, towels - you know the routine. Re: Today's fox poo incident Ooh yuk ;D There is only one thing for it, as I have said before my only claim to fame with dog training was to teach Hattie not to roll, because with her coat a regular roll would be a terrible messy business . Luckily Charlie doesn't seem bothered by fox poo and has only rolled twice in 2 1/2 years I am free between the hours of 8.30 a.m. and 6.00 pm for training sessions ;D ;D ;D xxx
Re: Today's fox poo incident
Rolling in human poo is worse! Thank your lucky stars it was only fox
Re: Today's fox poo incident We have a roller too. We've recently started cleaning the affected area with "Mucky Pup" by Animology. It's pretty good at cleaning the poo and masking the smell.
Re: Today's fox poo incident I feel your pain. Small Black Dog on floor at the moment chewing a bone. We are toughing out the smell as well. On the upside, it's not in the car.
Re: Today's fox poo incident And just found out we have non-dog owning visitors coming tonight. Might have to advise them that a taxi from the station would be preferable to being picked up in my car. Will have to bathe the culprits again today, the smell is really a bit much for visitors. Trouble is I find that as soon as I wash them, they dislike smelling like refugees from the nearest poodle parlour and will seek out the vilest stuff for rolling in again. I think the worst was a long-dead porpoise on the beach.....
Re: Today's fox poo incident Rotting porpoise, impressive. Charlie says, in terms of beach rolling, rotting seagulls are even better than long dead fish, but he's never tried rotting porpoise - he hopes to though.
Re: Today's fox poo incident Thank heavens my dog doesn't roll. I did laugh recently when on the beach in Sandsend, when a saw a pointer running at full pelt towards us like he'd been let out of a trap. He came to a halt, rolled on the floor, picked up the offending item (dead stinking seagull) and started munching. The owner eventually caught up, looking dishevelled to say the least. He said the dog had spotted it when they walked past, so he'd put him on the lead till they were far enough away. The second the lead was off, back he came. Gross!

I'll never forget either. I had to stop the car on the way home to be sick, the smell was so bad. I have trained a "magic word" ever since - waiting for the next dead seagull to come into our lives.
Re: Today's fox poo incident It has been 0 days since Theakston's last rolling incident. Why today? When we are staying with my mum, whose affection for dogs doesn't really extend to the aromatic reality??! The older he gets, it seems the stronger he likes his smells to be. I remember in my childhood the walk along a Norfolk beach when our Labrador found the seal carcass. Could climb into that one. Car windows just didn't open wide enough on the return journey... Clare
