Halloween tonight - but here in the Isle of Man it's Hop Tu Naa (Celtic New Year) that we celebrate. I was just getting ready to go to training, when 5 little-uns came to the door. OH said he'd hold Coco while I went to see them...so there I was, listening to 5 kids in fancy dress singing a long rendition of Jinny the Witch (traditional). Half way through, Coco broke free and came haring out into the porch. The children did not falter or flinch - they kept on singing right to the end. They deserved their treats tonight.

Ha ha! Yes, I was prepared - it's not as "bad" as Trick or Treat has become in the UK. It tends to be very young children (there's always an adult or 2 lurking near by) and they always sing - they don't just shout "TRICK OR TREAT" - though it has to be said, the supermarkets won't sell eggs of flour to anyone under 16 for a couple of weeks before hand!

A few years ago, it was nearly 9pm so I thought they'd be no more visitors - when a lone boy of about 15 years old knocked - and he stood there and sang Jinny the Witch right the way through.

Oh, I like the sound of that, singing rather than just demanding treats. Good for you being prepared and listening to them sing :)

Ha ha! I'll think about it - it's not a very tuneful song so I might be able to manage it....
