When I was playing with Lady just now, it made me think about just how much we trusted each other. We were playing patter-paw, and tummy rub and holding a back leg and holding my arm/hand in her mouth (I know - shouldn't do it but I do do it with Lady so there!). She is quite capable of crushing my hand or arm in a trice, but I trust her completely not to do it. She exposes all her soft under parts when she rolls over for patter paw and tummy rub and grab a back leg and knows I'm not going to hurt her. I think it's amazing really that it's possible to build up such a trust between human and dog, and it must be the same for the majority of dog owners as well. Amazing. 8)
Re: Trust Charlie likes to hold hands and feet in his mouth, I let him. It's his favourite thing when having his tummy rubbed. Re: Trust Trust between our furries and us is amazing. It is a wonderful thing that shouldn't be taken for granted.
Re: Trust Yes. I like the way that Lady moves in close when I put out a hand to stroke her cheek. I have seen way too many dogs that flinch at that move. Also when I put her to bed at night I give her a quick cuddle and she gives me a kiss. Now how absolutely soppy is that? ;D
Re: Trust that just lovelyDavid, Otis is soft and soppy to, I think it has a little to do with the way Ive brought him up, trust is wonderful Otis loves to play, and mouths still, but its soft, and he thinks Im his playmate, Ive never hit him to tell him off, and we have built real trust between us as you have wih Lady, its great, Maggie xx
Re: Trust Lola does this too but only with me, I hook my finger and she holds it just behind her canines. She also sits on my knee with her back against my arm and tilts her head so her nose is on my cheek. I love how affectionate dogs can be. Makes me wonder how anyone could dislike them
Re: Trust That's lovely David , and I agree that trust should never be taken for granted, its very precious indeed . Sam has lots of trust in me but with Millie, it took some time to build, but seeing how she is happy for us to use the eye drops without flinching , even holding her face up towards us, well , you cant put a price on that
Re: Trust Thanks for asking David , our little terrorist is doing wonderfully well and adapting to the loss of some sight in her poorly eye ever so well . Vets are all thrilled with her progress so we cant ask for more
