(I live in Australia so my spelling will be English as opposed to American English) Always exciting with my 3 month (plus) female lab. Yesterday while I had a contractor in my house my puppy managed to steal my glasses from a table. I returned to the room in time to see her working on the frame. To my dismay one of the lens was broken into several smallish pieces. I reassembled the glass jigsaw and discovered approx. 10 - 15% of the lens was missing. After a careful search I could only assume it had joined the other strange objects in her gastrointestinal tract! The vet gave me several pointers but also suggested feeding her wet food which she'd not previously had. She 'vacuumed' this wet food but then sat transfixed staring at her empty bowl for several minutes before going to the floor and continuing to stare. It was as if her instinctive drive to eat anything and everything had clicked in to satisfy her hunger but then afterwards she realised she had eaten something entirely different. Has anyone experienced similar behaviour?
What other strange objects? I bet she just liked it and was hoping for more. Or, worst case, some glass was hurting and moving around? Think I'd be watching that and checking poop.
The majority of us here are Brits, so we'll understand you just fine. We can translate for the Americans if needs be. Some of our Aussie members have been training us in the Australian vernacular, too I think she probably just wanted more. I hope she's ok.
Many thanks for your reply. I was once told by the great cricket commentator Richie Benaud to "Never assume!" I always think these forums are heavily populated with our American friends. I was telling a family member about the glass incident and she remembers one of their labs eating the glass and marmalade contents of a dropped bottle all bar the solid glass base. Her vet suggest either buttered cotton wool balls or bread and butter to go with the marmalade! No resulting problems! I reckon they have tungsten-lined stomachs!
I secretly hope that our use of the letter "u", and "s" instead of "z" will rub off on them Terrifying!
