    ....has anyone any advice please?
Tyne was diagnosed with this last weds and is on anti bi,s and anti inflammatries and has def improved but still it right.
Obviously toilet training has gone out the window, just want to get her better. She is fine in herself, happy and full of fun!

My girl is prone to UTIs and the antibiotics usually work their magic pretty quickly. If she's not right or you have any doubts when she gets to the end of the antibiotics get her back to the vet straight away because the infection sometimes hangs around and needs to be hit on the head. The vet usually wants a urinary sample. I find trailing Lady around the garden with a shallow hole free plastic food tray that had vegetables or something in it from the supermarket is a handy tool to just slide under at the appropriate moment.

I always find the first wee of the morning the easiest to collect as it's the most predictable :). If my vet appointment isn't until later in the day I usually call them as soon as I've collected it and drop it off straight away for testing.

I hope Tyne is back to herself soon :)

What a pain. Possibly literally a pain for poor little puppy Tyne, as it burns when they pee. It's just something you have to get through. None of mine were put on anti-inflammatories, just antibiotics. Why anti-inflammatories?

Anti-inflamms can help with the irritation/pain. Not treating the cause but the symptoms, while the ABs do their work.

Thanks for your replies. Yes, the anti flams were to make her more comfy.
She's full of life and happy so hopefully the test will come back clear.
Will post more pics soon :D

Poor Tyne, hope she's better soon. x

I had a dog years ago that needed 3 lots of ABs before the uti cleared, it's very common for them to need more than one course.

It depends on the bug that causes the infection - the one the vet chose might not have worked on that particular bug, so I second a return visit to the vet with a sample.
    Poor girl.

Got the all clear on Tuesday morn and by teatime, Tyne was having trouble weeing again! So back to the vets..... sample came back from lab showing ecoli infection so on ABs for 3 weeks. Bless her, she tried to get out in time but quite often doesn't. Only had one or two poos indoors since we got her but again will have to wait until she's better for the wee situation!
Her brother is having a big op on mon to put a screw in his elbow so it's all doom and gloom here!! Thank goodness Tyne is still a happy bouncy young lady to keep us smilingly!

What bad luck - poor Tyne, and poor you. Hope this course of ABs clears it up.

Sounds like a bit of a hospital ward at your place at the moment. Hope that all the patients are soon back to full strength.

Haha, it'll get worse after toms op as he will have to go in a (very large) crate to stop him jumping around and even when he goes out to the garden for a wee, he will have to be on a lead! Good job I'm retired, that's all I can say. Oh, and HURRAH FOR RED WINE !!;):pull:

@Marge sorry I missed this last week. I'm glad Tyne is improving now. My two had ecoli in their bladders as well so I know what your going through. Unfortunately it took six weeks of going backwards and forwards to the vet before they took a sterile sample to go to the lab. Up until then they'd had a seven day course of ABs every two weeks. Unfortunately because of this delay in correct treatment, ecoli needs a long continuous course of ABs, they also had struvite crystals. I'm pleased to be able to tell you though that after the correct course of ABs they got the all clear so I'm sure Tyne will be fine. My only advice is the same as I gave Bridget try to keep Tyne's fluids up. Good luck it will be over soon and then house training will be a breeze. ;)

Thanks Jen. Luckily my vet sent a sample off after it came back the first time. He's also going to send off another sample after the end of the ABs for piece of mind.
I'm getting to think I will never be free from steaming my floors!!

@Marge How are things going? Hope that little Tyne is feeling much better. How did the op go? I've been through the fun of elbow ops and restricted exercise etc. so I really truly feel for you.

Thanks Rosemary, Tyne is fine and is on an extended course of ABs now. Weeing in doors is back to the odd accident rather than the Great Lakes it has been!
Tom is so good. We have rigged up a playpen and the two crates and somehow we're managing to keep the dogs apart. It's a shame as Tyne loves tom but she's too boisterous so they have kisses under escort at the mo!!
Weather ok here so taking tom out on the lead in the garden isn't too bad but when the rain comes it's going to be fun!
    Thanks for asking xx
