The very fact that the power of learned helplessness was identified by Martin Seligman through shocking dogs should be enough for everyone to understand that it is utterly detrimental to train or work like that, for animals or humans. And although the dogs in the experiment couldn't escape all, it doesn't mean that animals who can behave in a manner to alleviate the shock are not on the continuum of learned helplessness.
