Nervous Lab Please i am getting desperate.I have a 19 month old male lab.He has been nutered.He seems to have ocd.Afraid of anything new.Even a new pairof slippers my hubby had.Frightend of people when on lead but when off running on beach or in forest he's fine.Still gives everyone a wide berth.I feel i've tried everything.Tried training classes but he was too nervous with other people.Fantastic with other dogs very friendly.Don't knowwhat to do.He seems scared of everything.
Hi @Wens Welcome to the site. I presume you have told these symptoms to to the vet and he has cleared the dog of any physiological problems. There seems to be a problem that he is fearful/anxious of humans or the way the lead is being used. There is too little information to work out what is the specific issue. If I were you I would ask a positive reinforcement dog behaviourist to come in and assess your dog, and work out a treatment plan.
Hi, I'm sorry to hear this, it's not nice to see your dog scared or reactive. Just to flag up for others reading this: Dogs showing signs of fear or anxiety should definitely not be neutered, because research shows that neutering can make the fear worse. In removing testosterone, you're removing a source of confidence for the dog and leaving the dog feeling more vulnerable - and so, more needing to protect themselves from a scary world.
