Our gorgeous 13 year old lady has been diagnosed with vestibular disease. It started 4 days ago - she woke up at 1am and was shaking and panting and her eyes were rolling. My husband had to pick her up to go to the vets and she kept trying to roll over. Since then she has been in the vet - she is taking antibiotics for a UTI she has since got and is on very low dosage of sedation and also steroids.

She is eating and wags her tail. Her eyes have stopped rolling.

They believe it is peripheral and not central.

We have been going in and visiting her everyday and she is laying on her side - obviously it is very upsetting to see her like that.

She is having physio every day and they have been lifting her in a harness. Before she wasn't putting any weight on her back legs however the vet said today she was able too for a few seconds.

I wondered if any labrador owners had any experience of vestibular disease.

    Hi Christina,

I'm afraid I cant offer any personal experience, but I wanted to drop in and say 'hi', and welcome you to the forum - welcome! I'm sorry you've been brought here by such a scary experience, and I hope your girl continues recovering well today :)

Hi Christina. What a shocking experience for you. Like Sarah I have no personal experience of this but just want to say hello, and let you know we're here if you need a place to talk.

How is your girl doing now?
