Re: Veterinary costs and insurance Cool - and I know what you mean about feedback - I've stopped allowing comments on my blog though as the spam was overwhelming which is a shame. it's why I appreciate comments on my facebook pages even more. Of course barney gets far more feedback than I do! After leaving my comment I decided to check on my doggy emergency fund and it's currently at £905 - I save £50 a month which is roughly what 2 goodish policies would cost. I look on it as their pension and therefore sacrosanct

Re: Veterinary costs and insurance I really thought I'd tempted fate this morning and I've lost a few days off my life span. Rusty ran off which he's never done before across the field and through a hedge and over a road - in morning rush hour. Luckily for us it's near a roundabout so the cars are moving slowly. He had a close shave trying to run back. He got a very fierce scruff shake and the cold shoulder from me all the way home. That was an hour ago and I'm still shaking I have no idea why he decided to take off, he wasn't chasing anything just being willfully disobedient - he turned and looked at my whistle and decided to ignore it. Thank god he's ok and I'm not looking at wiping out 3 x my balance for a broken limb or worse. yes it is - thanks I'll have a look at that ;D

Re: Veterinary costs and insurance all my animals are insured with petplan, although its expensive i cant afford to be without it, one of my labs developed elbow dysplasia at the age of 6months, he had xrays/mris,joint taps and lots more of which cost thousands of pound of which if he wasnt insured would of been a struggle, hes goes to hydrotherapy every 2 weeks and is on seraquin of which is all paid for on insurance, maizy my cat has ultrasound scans on her heart every 6 months whish is around 5-600 pound, and millie one of my other dogs who is a cross breed had spinal surgery as her disk was protruding into her spinal cord- this was 4000 pound,, all i can say is dont know what id do without it. alice
