Tomorrow I have to work from 8am til 1.30pm. My daughter is home til 9.30am then out for the rest of the day. So, as Harley has staples in her leg I'm unable to put her in her crate because of her cone (rubber ring). Hubby found a webcam, has connected it to our laptop and my phone so I can see what she's up to in the kitchen. This will be the first time she has been left out crate when we are out ::) bit worried about how she may act! I'm going to put her bed, a frozen kong, a few toys, a rice bone and water in the kitchen with her. Anything else I've forgot? I'm a bit worried that she might get distressed :-\

Ternaya, I know you will be worried as Harley has staples poor girl, but you are not leaving Harley for very long at all, I am sure she will be OK out of her crate. Don't worry I bet she gets stuck into the kongs etc. and before you know you will be home. She is a good girl so all will be good. xxx :D

Ah, I'm sure she'll be just fine.

Just from my check list, in case it helps:

I'd skip the toys, I only leave kong toys.
Make sure she can't get into anything (chemicals under the sink, things like that)
Consider leaving a pile of kongs. I've always done this, not just one or two kongs. I think Charlie kongs himself to sleep - chewed out.
I also leave a radio or TV on as it's usually on when I'm at home.

Thanks Helen and Julie :) I think I will be logging on constantly from work in the morning ;)

Because my daughter has been home for a month, Harley hasn't been left for longer than an hour. She goes back to uni in just over a week, then back home again 3/4 weeks later for 4 months. It's going to take Harley some getting used to it ::)

I think that if she can do one hour she will be able to do three hours :) Don't worry too much :)

Let us know how the web cam arrangement goes!

    Good luck Ternaya.
Try not to worry. I'm sure she will be fine. Try not to be anxious and overfuss when you leave.
She will hopefully sleep most of the time.
    xx

Not long been home. Checked her on webcam every 10-15 mins and apart from a few mins sat by the door and trying to find a way out and a bit of counter surfing she was fab :) happily ate her kongs and slept for a bit. I worked out I could speak to her so did when she was counter surfing, got her to sit then lie on her bed which she did :D
So glad I done this today as when my daughter goes back to uni on the 10th for 3 weeks, I am now going to put Harley in the kitchen instead of her crate :)
Thanks for all the positive comments ;)

He he he it was fab watching what she gets up to and knowing that she doesn't get stressed :)
I like the 'remote control lab', if only she responded so quickly in person ;)

Luckily I was only running a computer club for older people - teaching them how to use computers, laptops and tablets. I have a good relationship with all of them so they kept asking what she was up to so it made it easier for me to keep checking :D must admit having 2 volunteers is a godsend as I was able to spend most of my time chatting to the ladies and gents and checking on Harley ;)
