Hi, Just got back from the vet, about Otis s suspect demodetic mange, well good vet, she did a skin scrape, and looked at it under a microscope, couldnt see any mites, said to check in a month again. Prescribed advocate , said his coat was a bit dry, and when I told her he was on a raw diet , she said she didnt promote one, because it wasnt complete. Ive got to disagree with her on that point, Otiss coat has always been a bit dry, even on kibble. We talked about a good supplement , and she recommended yumega plus, which she prescribed for me. Im quite happy with the treatment, as she found no domdetic mites, and said that the baths they would have for them werent a great idea. He has put on 2.4 kg since October, a good weight gain as he was still growing, and is now 20.4 kg. He has to go for his booster in a month, so will get his skin checked again. So all well and good, Maggie xx

Hi Maggie, pleased Otis hasn't got mange. Afraid I don't know anything about raw diet. When Meg was a pup, I don't think it had been heard of. Glad he's gaining weight. Sounds like he's a good weight. Bet your minds at rest now.

Do you give him fish oil on a daily basis Maggie? I find that works wonders for dry skin in dogs.

    Hi maggie

That's good news it sounds like it's not mange! Maybe it's just a bit of eczema or something then? Hopefully the supplement for the coat will work

Ah glad you've been able to get him checked out and it's not so bad.as you know I'm so terrified of a raw diet on case I miss making sure Dexter gets everything but you've seen such a great improvement in Otis's toileting and other yuck poo habit Maggie,it's working great for you.it might just need a bit of tweaking and it would be helpful to have some support rather that your choice questioned ??? ....
Does he have sardines as part of his diet...you know to supplement his rhubarb crumble ::) ;D xxx
I'm sure you will notice improvement soon.....let's us know xxx

Hi, he gets quite a bit of fish, and raw eggs, but the supplement Ive been given looks good with different oils in it. The demodetic mange, wasnt totaly ruled out, she just didnt see any mites on the skin scrape. Was looking at another lab today same age, and her fur on tum was so much thicker. Will just see how it goes, back to vets in a month for booster and check up, think Ive got everything coverd, thanks everyone xx
