It's off to visit doggy daycare with Edsel this morning! Let's see how this hoes. Hopeful that he might attend a day a week and be comfortable with boarding in future if needed.

I found a good day care for Chepi. She's really benefited from socialising. It took her about 4-5 sessions to get used to it as she started at 13 weeks and hadn't been around dogs since 8 weeks. She has gone from being very very nervous to scratching on the door to get in now! So if you like it I think it's really beneficial :)

Visit and tour went great! Edsel was up to his old charming ways today flirting with the owner and all the other ladies working. There were about 15 dogs of varying size, age and breed there. Everyone was in their rooms for morning rest when we arrived but Edsel paraded through the middle paying no mind to all the barks and yaps! We have scheduled a day next Tuesday. I plan to check on him at lunch and decide then whether to do a full day or half. They have been in business for about 15 years. Everything was very clean. They have large indoor and outdoor play/exercise areas. And the puppies are sorted into groups by size and temperament for socialization. He was dying to stay and play today.
Instead I decided to take another walk along the river walk at the park and was surprised to find a festival going on! Decided I'd take a chance. As usual, he was excited by and wanted to run after the kids, but eventually was able to sit calmly watch as people, strollers, dogs and decorated rafts for the charity race went by. I was astonished. He did snatch up some stray popcorn but I couldn't say much about that!
Can't believe the changes I've seen in the last couple weeks!

Edsel had his first day at daycare yesterday and it was quite successful. He had a wonderful time playing with a 7 month collie and was quite happy to come home and snooze the night away in his crate. They said he behaved quite well and seemed very happy. Owner is fantastic about consistency in the training bits I emphasized and seems very knowledgeable of labs, as they've had a couple for family pets as well. She also highly recommended the trainer we are going to start working with in September. Has used him for all their pups.
Back for another day on Friday! But for today he's stuck at home with old boring mom!
