Lucca (13 weeks) ate a whole courgette while I was gardening earlier (he ate it off the vine) he then proceeded to vomit it up and eat it again. twice. Since then he's vomitying everything up. Even water? When should I worry and what do I need to to/feed him. He still seems keen to eat…. I've got him in his crate a) to prevent my house getting covered in sick! and b) to keep him quiet Any advice appreciated! I'm use to vomiting kids but never had a dog do this!! thanks Sophie
Re: Vomity puppy As he's so young I'd be concerned about him not keeping water down. I'd suggest leaving him for an hour, then trying water again and if he still can't keep it down I'd call the vet even though it's Sunday. If he can keep water down I'd perhaps not feed anything except water till this evening. However I don't know if courgettes are dangerous... perhaps ring the vet for advice.
Re: Vomity puppy I am pretty sure courgettes are absolutely safe for dogs to eat. Maybe just ate too much of it? Could he have snaffled something else too? I would allow his tummy to settle for a few hours, then try him with a small amount of moistened normal food, not too much water just on its own (or some really sloppy cooked rice and chicken) If he is still being sick, and not drinking, then it is always MUCH safer and reassuring to speak to the vet.
Re: Vomity puppy Just let a little time go by and don't give him any food for a few hours. I would keep water available. I have had to cally vet several times recently and it doesn't cost anything. Try calling the 24 hour number and asking advice. Hopefully it will all settle down. My vet just toldd that pups aren't as well equipped as adults to deal with what they eat, so your pip's upset tummy may reject food if it has been irritated. The vet shouldn't mind the call.
