Well looks like my first session of SAR training is on hold. Edsel began vomiting yesterday evening until about 3 am. Then started again before noon. Trip to vet and X-rays show lots of gas in his bowel indicating some measure of obstruction. No food for 24 hours, small amounts of water every couple hours and watch. No identifiable objects on X-ray, but he's been a fiend about trying to snatch up paper in all forms lately. May have a mass of that in his belly. Fingers crossed that whatever it is will all come out well in the end! ;D guess it's wait and see what tomorrow brings.

Oh dear, poor Edsel! Massive sympathy here, my pooch is a terrible paper snatcher. Hope your boy is better soon!

I hope things have "moved on" and you are both feeling better.

Hope Edsel gets rid of whatever is obstructing him; it must be such a disappointment to miss the first SARS training.

That's no good!! Is the vet giving him anything to speed the progress of the blockage? My old boy was on hourly paraffin and a drip when he had a blockage, though it was a pretty bad one. Came through in the end though and I've never been more grateful to see a poo.

Hope Edsel is feeling better and things move a long nicely and quickly ::)

Can I ask why the vet decided to do x ray ? Did you suspect a blockage ?

He developed sudden onset of vomiting, every hour or so for almost 12 hours. Due to his age, being a lab and his propensity for chewing we were suspicious of a blockage. He had been snatching pieces of napkin, paper towels and trying to tear toilet tissues off the rolls for a few days so wouldn't surprise me if that was the cause.

Hopefully if it's paper it will break down enough to pass through. :-\

    Fingers crossed.
