(For new readers, I have a young, very excitable, dog on crate rest and short lead walks - just in case you think I'm just completely incompetent). Started well - small kong in the car, total silence - not sure that's a long term strategy. But good for now. Got out of the car, immediately mugged by a pack of 4 terriers. Luckily, had a handful of chicken ready to stop Charlie's mad dash for the nearest smelly post, so it was ok - a quick hello and we managed to walk away. Hurrah! Round the front of the car, kids playing football - and booted the ball right at us. For Charlie, there is nothing on this earth more attractive than a moving ball, and all hell broke loose. Was so bad, OH picked Charlie up and carried him out of sight of the ball. Boo! Unfortunately, OH deposited us in the path of the Sunday evening round the park run, so Charlie's excitement levels were not helped by people running madly for the finish line. Quick exit right, into a line of small trees and bushes, where we recovered our composure. Onwards, excited and not behaving well, over the hill - seems noisy, is that music? - smack into a camp party, hasty exit through the woods, down to the pond. Just a few dogs, but far away, flapping ducks and swans start to build excitement, so I sit down on a log - firmly - tell Charlie "chill!" and spend the next 10 minutes clicking for calm in the presence of flapping duck fights. It works, and so we set off again, walking nicely - sweet. Round to the stream, and through the flat area below the golf course. To find a race of remote control trucks in progress. Did I say a moving ball was the most attractive thing on this earth? I was mistaken. I'll save you the rest of it - which was a very short lead route march back to the car and a stiff drink for me tonight!
Re: Walk tonight I am sorry, but it did sound like a farce play ;D I am sure Charlie must be very tired after such an exciting evening and both the two leggeds need a good glass of wine each.

Re: Walk tonight Sorry Julie I know it must have been hard work and stressful for you but I have to agree with everybody else it reads like a comedy you couldn't have made it up . ;D ;D ;D And that's the problem with light, nice evenings everybody comes out.
Re: Walk tonight A troop of Wombles running madly around to the Benny Hill theme would have only to be expected. Fortunately we must have missed them!
