Just back from mid day pee and poo walk.

As we turned out of our gate we could hear dogs barking - sounded like loads. Anyway, turned out to be 3 big, black dogs in the back of a landrover, with a mesh dog guard across the back (so open but for the guard).

Great! Being calm around other dogs training exercise.

The dogs were seriously giving off "we are not nice" and "we'll have your hand off if you touch this car" messages.

Charlie was very interested, and pulled towards them. I just stopped and rewarded when he looked at me. We were soon making progress with Charlie getting a treat for looking at me. All good. When we got right up to them, Charlie looked a bit uncertain so I did Debsie's "mum goes first" thing, and we walked by without any fuss. Then we did a click for calm exercise sat by the side of them.

Was really pleased! I think we did ok. No excitement madness or messing about (for once).

It's quite possible in these particular circumstances, that the split personalites of "total wimp dog" and "crazy excitement dog" were perfectly in balance to give "normal". ;D ;D ;D

The things that brighten my day! Honestly. Never been so delighted to have a quiet street with 3 barking dogs behind a guard. I just thought "fantastic, just what I need!".

And they were seriously barky. A woman walking down the street, and watching us walk towards the dogs, told Charlie "don't mess with them, mate". ;D ;D ;D

    Brilliant well done Charlie.

That's just what you need to get some practise in Julie but without too much exposure.

Keep your eye out for that car again. Maybe they park their regularly. That would be handy. ;)
