I have two pieces of white vet bed. White. Therein lies my mistake.

They look grubby all the time. I've washed them at 40C, 60C, 90C with detergent and they still look grubby. Is there any way of reviving them, os should I just give up and invest in some grey stuff?

You could try good old fashioned laundry bleach (it's called vanish white these days ::) ). Soak them for a few hours. But that would be an awful faff so if the budget allows, I'd go for a different colour.

Thanks, I'll try that. I've looked at buying more vet bed, but the issue - as always - is having it shipped here. Most shipping seems to be £20+ which is a bit excessive for a piece of fluffy material! So I'll probably wait until I'm back in the UK in May and pick some up then.

I didn't think of using Vanish. I have some regular stuff (not the White) so might try that on one piece this morning and see how it goes.

Yes.... relegate the grubby ones to the boot of the car and get new ones for 'display'.

I have washed my pieces of vet bed 1000 times on 40 degrees. I have had them for years.

I like the dark grey with cream paw prints, it looks good as new every time.

That's the design I was looking at - much more forgiving than plain white!

The dogs are crated in the car, so one piece of this can go in that and the other can go in the "dog cupboard" as a spare when that one's in the wash.

You lot are bad for my bank balance. All the lovely doggy things I can buy!

We have that one too - very forgiving! Only thing is it's easy to forget to wash it as it never looks grubby

That is true. It's only when you get close to it and smell it that you realize it hasn't been washed for quite some time...

Can I ask I've blocked our washing machine filter up twice washing vet bed. Shud we be prepping it somehow first??? Or maybe put inside a pillowcase perhaps?

On another note we have grey with black footprints here.

I give mine a good bashing on a railing every now and again to get the bits, and some of the hair, out. That's all I do. Is your filter being clogged with dog hair or bits of the bed?

The Vanish didn't work. I still have two grubby pieces of white vet bed. Roll on May, when I can get some replacements!

I give it a quick vacuum over and bung it straight in - not had a problem so far.

My OH (who has responsibility for the washing machine filters) insists all dog stuff is shaken outside or hoovered before it gets washed. Boring. But then, I suppose he is the one that has to deal with the filter. It does get clogged up with football sized clumps of dog hair, yes.

Thank you for the suggestions.. in the past it has been bits of fluff from the vet bed that has caused the blockage. I'm liking the look of that dense net thingy... might invest in one of those :)

I must keep this in mind. The filter on ours is a right git to get to - it's at the back (!) of the machine, so it means pulling the whole thing out of the cupboard to do it. What a palarva!
