With 3 big dogs in the house I was getting fed up with constantly refilling the water bowl. I struggled to find one that would be big enough to make a difference then hit on an idea. I now use a big pot that was a plant pot cover - very smart and holds 8 litres! So now they never run out but it is a bit of a heft to rinse out - I top it up with a jug rather than lift in full mind
Re: water bowls - how big is yours? I've only got meg. Her water bowls are quite big, she has one in the bedroom, one in the kitchen and one outside in the garden. I have to refill them several times a day cos she's so fussy, it has to be fresh water all the time and she'll alternate between all three. Mind you she sees a nice muddy puddle and she'll drink from that.
Re: water bowls - how big is yours? Ours is a big one! The reason we have such a large bowl for a puppy is that our last lab would continually knock her bowl over and quite often lay in the water so we would have a sopping wet floor and a sopping wet lab! Nellie can't knock this over yet but has found that putting her paws in the water is quite good fun!!
Re: water bowls - how big is yours? Penny has the one that is the size below the largest stainless steel one you can get,.. If that makes sense lol She never empties it so even if I just change the water once a day the bowl is never empty. With it being so big it also catches the dribbles that come out the side of her mouth when drinking!
Re: water bowls - how big is yours? An Olympic sized iron cook pot. He still floods the kitchen floor with his enthusiastic approach to the tanking of his water bowl, but at least he can't tip or pick it up.
Re: water bowls - how big is yours? We have a big metal one for a little pup was hoping it would see her through to adult size, it has the non-slip base. However, I end up changing her water countless times a day as it ends up full of bits she's been chewing on grass, twigs, flowers etc... Also she is a messy drinker and we have constant trail of water from the kitchen to the living room! Is this a lab thing to dribble water everywhere? :
Re: water bowls - how big is yours? Yes it totally is!! There was a thread on this a few weeks back but I can't remember where it is. I found a turtle mat under the bowl helped a lot, helps to catch the initial drops so at least that doesn't get stood in and run everywhere lol
Re: water bowls - how big is yours? Chip's bowl is the stainless steel large one, with a big mat under to catch drips and dribbles. One of his favourite games is a baked bean in his water bowl, he'll spend ages putting his full face in, blowing bubbles trying to get the bean out. And it's also hilarious for us to watch!
Re: water bowls - how big is yours? Chepi has a large ceramic bowl, it seems really big for a puppy and heavy. I only have to put about 3 inches of water or less and it is still only an eight full.
Re: water bowls - how big is yours? A 12 inch ceramic one. She loves to splash in it so I usually end up filling it up about four times a day : and moping just as much!
