Like it and so true....but really we need a study to determine this? Like I (and am sure all other on here agree) you change your behaviour and are a lot calmer and look at life differently.
Hopefully my earlier comment was not taken out of context or offend anyone. One thing I did find interesting though is no study done on the impact of the actual animal. I know this could be difficult depending on the type. Talking from personal experience, having a family member who has schizophrenia (medicated accordingly) and lived with us for 12months+. You could tell when they where due their medication as the personality changed near that time. We noticed a change in Vanilla after a while. She was always pleased to see us, but after a while it became more of a panic in 'I am so glad you are home' jumping and just wanted to get away. She would also spend more time in isolation during the day, but person in house would always disturb Vanilla. It did come to a point where I would leave the house for work (but stay just outside) and as soon as the door was shut all I could hear 'Vanilla, Vanilla'. If I then walked back in again, and mentioned to not disturb her ie: let 'sleeping dogs sleep'. Answer was always I did not do that. When they moved out, we did think how would this affect Vanilla, given that no one would be in the house anymore on a full time basis. Vanilla just settled, and I think she enjoyed the piece and quiet. I think Dogs can handle anything, as they adapt to the surrounds. This might not always suit them though and might not always be the best outcome overall. that is just my thought though having seen and been through this.
