Harley and I went shopping for some toys, chewies and treats today. The staff at the local pet supply store is very welcoming of visiting pets. Harley had a wonderful time, saying hello to anyone who looked at her for too long, but I was very proud of her, she was well behaved all in all. One or two jumps but many more polite sits and hellos. She both hot and a little over stimulated.
Thank you She is a beautiful girl. I was so chuffed because when she gets over stimulated she isn't normally interested in treats, she is just so distracted. But today she responded to me each time, I mostly had to call her name, she would look at me and I would C & T. For her, this is a big deal because she normally just stares at what ever interests her. She was happy to sit, down and speak for a treat in the store. So I was really, really pleased. Of course she was doted on by nearly everyone, and everyone there was really puzzled with what I was doing with the clicker. Positive reward training is a very poorly known concept for the general public here. I don't know if it is the same in the rest of the world?
And the spoils. The bone is an ostrich bone. Harley chose the toys herself. I chose the treats, they were on a high shelf.
I love pet shops. Everyone's always so happy to see a Labrador. Great opportunity to practise leave it it mostly works. They surely expect a bit of shrinkage Very sophisticated choice of toys from young Harley!
Harley thinks pet shops are amazing too! She lives helping herself to the treats! I love the toys Harley chose. Can I just say that the Ostrich bone could splinter and weight bearing bones aren't really good as they can crack dogs teeth.
We are keeping a close eye @Naya. Luckily Harley isn't much of a bone chewer, she has enjoyed pulling the "stuff" off and chewing on the softer bits at the end but she loses interest in the actual bone part. She is a bit of a princess in that way. She doesn't chew just for the sake of chewing.
Yeah, watch out with the bone. @Boogie 's Tatze broke a tooth recently on a dried bone... Harley is gorgeous girl!!!
