Mine are German Shepherds as when they are young their pricked ears and head tilts do it for me. Also Springer Spaniels because when I worked on building sites in the 80's it was common to see them pull up in a van** and roam around all day and I loved that connection. ** We point out that the vehicle was generally driven by a male human.
Got to be spaniels (springer and cockers) for me. I've owned one of each and they are such happy-go-lucky characters.
I don't think I've really got a favourite breed of dog after our Labradors but have a soft spot for cocker spaniels, spinones and bracco Italianos. As a trainer I just feel privileged to be able to meet and train puppies and adolescents with their humans and help older dogs to overcome behaviour problems. I have become a bit of a soft touch with staffers though - each one I've met has had an amazing character and so full of fun and life.
Jack Russell Terriers for me , not everyones cup of tea and not for the faint hearted, but I adore their spirit . Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would own a dog like Nell , a Chihuahua x Shi Tzu , a tiny fluffy thing , but she needed us and has taught me that dogs are dogs, big or small ! So , I adore Labradors of course, but also love little dogs , equally x
Any dog really I'm a total sucker for any dog. I love labs though and always like to have at least one. Love smooth coats though don't like fluffy so much I like pointers I would really like one but I doubt I ever will
Hattie & Charlie are crossbreeds which I adore but I do have a love for Dalmatians, St. Bernards and Hungarian Vizslas x
Border Collies , in their element as working dogs, I love their quickness and speed both mental and physical. But my Labrador is just the best
We had an English Springer Spaniel and may yet again. I really like the look of Bernese Mountain Dogs. We looked into them at their club and a few breeders and were told they could not do the winter activities we like to do. They are a strong dog, good for carting and pulling but apparently not so much the active winter things we like. And then there's all that hair. So I enjoy watching and meeting the ones other people have.
Oh yes, the Dalmation. I do love them - probably because we had one when I was a child. A most loving family dog. But quite dense!
Ooo... I love this question. Rottweilers will be for ever and ever "my breed", even while I hope to add Labradors to that very special short list as well. I also go to mush over Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs, though I have no real experience with them personally. I've just never met one that wasn't a total love. In general, I'm a sucker for any of the big, doofy mastiff breeds: Spanish Mastiff, Presa Canario, Old English, even Newfoundland (though technically I don't think that's considered a mastiff breed). I no longer think I want one as I've come to see the disadvantages of such large dogs, but I certainly admire them and behave like a teenaged fan girl if I see one on the street. Based on fostering and rescue, I also have a huge soft spot for chihuahuas and chi mixes, pit bulls and after my love affair with Señor Toby (aka Alf) this spring, I'm a Bodeguero fan as well.
There are a few Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers near us. They are so pretty with their little white paws.
If I had a big house and no carpet then it'd be a Great Dane. A friend of OH's has always had them and they're just super, super dogs. I do love small dogs, and if I ever get another dog it would be something small and companion-sized, but the barking would drive me bonkers. Are there any small breeds that aren't naturally vocal?
