The Land Lord of our newly refurbished village pub has bought the most stunning Brown Flatcoat Retriever puppy, wait for it he has named him 'Todger', does anyone else feel this is inappropriate for a family pub/restaurant or am I being stuffy? :-\ x
Re: What Do You Think? No, that's not right! I think I should confiscate it and give it a nice appropriate name ;D (love flatcoats!)
Re: What Do You Think?
He's joking right?
He's absolutely serious!!
Re: What Do You Think? Poor little puppy. Still, I guess there's no accounting for taste. Maybe it's some old family reference that has a deep and meaningful significance for them and it's the rest of us making the other name association?

Grace my daughter has a job waitressing during the University holidays, she asked him why he called the dog such a silly name and he thought it very funny. Good luck to him recalling him in the woods
Re: What Do You Think? Todger is quite an old nickname for Thomas. There was a war hero called Todger Jones - I remember reading about a statue. He got the VC, I think.
Oh good grief I hope not, my son is called Thomas, he clearly named him for the 'other' nickname as he finds it most amusing when his customers ask him WHY? :
Re: What Do You Think? We once had a lovely lady with a beautiful cat which was tabby with white tips to the hairs. She called him Frosty, and it really suited him. It was only on entering the waiting room and calling out for "Frosty Cox please" did the entire place dissolve into hysterics and a very embarrassed owner come into the consulting room previously unaware of the implications.....
Re: What Do You Think? ;D ;D ;D ;D At Lochans post x Oh Helen, poor dog , I wont tell you what someone suggested we call Sam ( in all seriousness too ) but it was in honour of the black Lab in a certain war film and very un PC indeed .
Re: What Do You Think? This is one of your words I have never heard before. I guess I should be glad?
Re: What Do You Think? Umm... I have a slight problem in Germany, as Poppy is kind of the same as calling a dog Bonky or similar in the UK... I spend quite a lot of time explaining to people that she is called after a small red flower of the field!!!!! Since she is such a foxy-looking little thing, OH also suggested we might call her Foxy, or even Vixen... Had to explain gently to him that Vixen would NOT work well as a name in Germany. Although - we live near a zoo, and one of the elephants is called Wankie, so I suppose it might work... Honestly, the minefields of different languages!!!!
