There's a guy I see every morning on the school run he has huge dog I think it's a boxer but it's massive it's head is the size of a basketball! Anyway he lets of off lead on the field right next to school the fence runs down the side of this field.

Today I took holly on lead to school for the first time. (It's difficult to walk her with pushchair and a child walking so have avoided so far) this dog was pulling this guy across the road to get to holly I tried to keep holly away but the guy said he'll be ok with her she's only a pup so I let her go to sniff him. He was fine gave her a sniff looked v uninterested and went to walk off then the guy said I'm trying to get him used to other dogs because he mostly just wants to kill them.

If that's the case why does he let it off lead near a bloody school??

    Jeepers.

If you are ever in doubt about another dog, don't let your dog near it. Even if you have to pick her up. Just stay calm so she thinks it's all cruisey.

Having wavered in the early days, I now (very recently) have a no interaction at all while on lead rule (thanks, Rachael, you helped me get this straight in my mind). And I just tell other owners that - as politely as I can while speaking quickly as their dogs drag them over. So even if they do want to get their dogs used to other dogs, they just have to find someone else.

Just now, a lovely black lab pup was walking up the road towards us - because Charlie is super excited on restricted exercise right now, and we would have had a mad dance around, I was straight over to the other side of the road for "watch me" practice with a bit of chicken until they passed by. I could see the slightly disgusted look on the other owner's face who obviously thought I was a mean, mad, unsociable, owner and Charlie is very hard done by. Tough luck. His pup continued to pull him up the road...

Sometimes people's ignorance is just hard to deal with! Since Odin and I are working very hard on ignoring other dogs while walking on lead i'm kind of fed up with all the "he just wants to say hello" dogholders out there. Many of them simply ignore the fact i just told them that we're training and don't want to say hello today! Same with all the "oohhh what a nice doggy you are ohhh you sweety dududududu" people that get Odin super exited while i'm trying to work on not greeting everyone he meets on the street.

And Drina i would strongly recommend not to let little holly near that guy and his dog anymore. It's a myth adult dogs won't hurt pups just because their pups. And a dog with a basketball size head that got some aggressive attitude is the last thing anyone would want near his puppy.

I'm not I was very nervous with him coming near he has no control over his dog and I'd rather he didn't come near holly.

It makes me cross tho that I can't take holly on the school run because of him. I take holly to field next to school to run off lead most days it would be so much easier to do it straight after school run but I guess I'll have to wait until lunch time as usual.

What an idiot. People like that shouldn't be allowed to have dogs. :(
