Hi Chloe, now 13 months and bright and beautiful, mischievious etc., has not been too well this last couple of days,,was minimally sick after a chew on the lawn,,promptly ate it before I had chance to move it. However, she seems to have rather red gums, and seems rather quiet, she will play out on the lawn with the ball,,eats normally, goes a walk, but feel there is just something not right. Was wondering if she has picked something up,, they are always picking up something, as she is licking her lips quite a bit, and drooling a bit. Had dogs for many years and they do this licking lips etc., when not well. Not drinking too much etc.,,no runs, but wondering why the licking, I think gums should be pink? May go to the vets tomorrow, but nothing specific to tell him really, had a look in her mouth in case chewing twigs etc,,might have done something, and I took a hair roller out of her mouth yesterday!!! Cannot see anything, but noticed gums rather red. Such a shame as she is quietening down quite a bit now she is turned 13 months, and actually listening to what I tell her. Oh how I wish they could tell us, five am. now, just been down to see how she is, well ok, but still licking her lips and nose a bit which suggests whatever it is is still there. So glad of this forum, regards Val
Re: What is the normal colour of gums Well I would listen to your instincts. Give your vet a call and hopefully you will get to the bottom of it. Keep us posted!
Re: What is the normal colour of gums Yes, gums should be pink. Not red and not a pastel pink - just pink. If you think something is not right I would take her to the vet. You know her best and you know what is normal. I hope she is ok
Re: What is the normal colour of gums Hope she's ok. Gums should be pink and if you press them the colour should spring back. Could it be a problem with her teeth, seeing as she's licking her lips and drooling. Let us know how she gets on at vets. Lots of hugs to her.
