Re: What to do before you get to the Vet in 12 emergency situations I know this is the Labrador forum so may not be appropriate for labs as they are bigger but anyone with a smaller dog - we have found over the years making sure the small ones will go into and settle in a small travel crate has been invaluable. When we had an internal bleed in a yorkie (Duncan) we didn't want to pick him up and risk making it worse so gentle got him into a travel crate so we could carry him, same when we had a collapsed trachea corgi (Katie) the crate was really helpful again. Broken ribs Jack russel/Lakeland (Benny) and haemorrhage Chihuahua (Rosie) again it was great. We have Elsie crate trained too not because we want her to be left in it for hours but in case she ever needs cage rest, have seen some dogs panic when introduced to a crate for the first time when they are already in pain.
Re: What to do before you get to the Vet in 12 emergency situations Good point. I am starting to think about de-crating Molly, but I think I'll hang on to the crate and get her to sleep in it occasionally. It might be a bit of a chore finding somewhere to keep it and assembling it from time to time, but if she ever does need to be confined it will be time well spent. Thanks
