The past couple years have brought many changes in my life including the loss of several loved family members and friends and precious pet, children off to college, changes in jobs, moving homes and one nasty broken leg! Difficult times for sure. With that said, I've become aware that since bringing Edsel home 6 weeks ago many other things have changed as well. But I'm happy to say all for the good. Here's my top 5 list of things my pup has done for me!
5.) I no longer need to set my alarm clock for work!
4.) I've developed a fondness for the smell of wet, muddy puppies.
3.) I've learned that patience truly is a virtue and I have more of it than I ever imagined!
    2.) I laugh...a lot.....everyday!
    1.) I am happy!

    Edsel you Gorgeous mucky pup.

My dogs past and present have always made me smile, laugh and happy. Even at 5 30 in the morning in winter when it's dark wet and cold I go to their pen and I'm instantly happy.

This is despite the frustrating things they have a habit of doing on a regular basis. ;D

Having a pet dog makes no sense. It costs us money and takes away our independence/freedom.

I always say "you either 'get' dogs or you don't"

    I DO

I have always had dogs, since before I was born - so I can't imagine life without them.

But I must say, much as I loved all of the others, none has quite taken hold of my heart quite like Tatze has. She has given me a new lease of happiness which was entirely unexpected.

    ;D

Got me walking again after 2 months in a wheel chair after an accident, it was really tough at first, trying to manage a tiny puppy from a wheelchair and then the first attempt and negotiating crutches AND a puppy well now that was interesting! ;D ;D

The most important thing I need to do now is walk, and Benson gives me the perfect excuse, and confidence. He doesn't pull on his lead, he is calm, so well socialised and friendly, always checks where I am, (before running off that is.. ::)

Sometimes I get frustrated with pain, or the fact I just can't go the pace that I used too, Benson seems to sense these moments, and I get a nudge with a wet muzzle, or a a sloppy lick, can't stay feeling sorry for myself with a gorgeous, affectionate chocolate lab! :)

I now can't imagine life without him :)

I don't know yet, I'm about to find out but I think I am going to love having my puppy. Not ashamed to buy all the gear, not ashamed to look soppy! :) Hopefully I will do right by her and bring her up to be a well behaved but well loved member of my family. :* Soppy!!!!

Most of what others have said, laughter, exploring new places. The most surprising upthing is I now find myself talking to her whilst out on walks, people must think I'm nuts.

Have to say one of the best things isn't directly 'for' me, my parents absolutely adore her (& she adores them) & the happiness it brings to my parents when playing or giving her a treat is just priceless.

I got Harley when my daughter left home to go to uni. She makes me laugh every day, walking which has really helped my spinal injuries, I have met lovely people on walks (especially those from our forum walks ;) ), she loves me unconditionally even when I come home in a bad mood or stressed from work :)

Had tons of dogs growing up and lost my last dog when I was about 14 and we never got another after that till I got a phone call from my 3 year old son to say he was buying a dog lol I have re learned how loyal and truly amazing dogs are. And not to stress over my cream carpet cause no matter how much I love a clean house, Lola loves mud more ;D also my son has a best friend who ALWAYS wants to play.

    Bite marks on my hands.
    Holes in my dressing gown/pyjamas
    Brown patches on my lawn
    Taken over my ground floor
Taken over the boot of my car
Made me interested in poo

Makes me smile every time I see him
Makes me walk every day rain or shine in fabulous Snowdonia
Gives me more pleasure than I ever thought possible
    Makes me laugh out loud
Gives me so much more than I give him.

Would I be without him? Not for a minute. Happy (dog) days.

    So that's a regular now? ;) :*

    For me.......
Rehabbed and strengthened my hip following my joint replacement, improving my strength and gait (I had a pretty chronic hip problem from childhood which had resulted in a most appalling gait over the years).
    Got me fitter generally.
Got me out to places I never knew existed for walks.
Enabled me to appreciate the nature and the beauty in our environment.
Taught me to be more philosophical about dirty floors and dog hair.
Fortified my wardrobe with wet-weather clothing and footwear.
Found me loads of real and virtual friends through training and both on this forum and on Facebook.
Shown me how easy it is to get addicted to social media.
Taught me loads and loads about dog training and behaviour (not that I am so good at applying it).
Changed my approach to holidays and days off completely ;D

    Love ya Lilly :*

Patience has got Dexter this far though hasn't it after all I resolved!he's quietly confident that he will eventually occupy the premium sleeping position full time in the house......ie the dead centre of our bed with his head by our feet and his tail end uppermost  can't believe I even write this ,but so is our reality !!!

I was a young at heart 64 when I got Sam as a puppy , notice the young at heart bit ;) I did have another dog at the time but she wasnt in the best of health and couldnt have long walks so my life had become quite sedentary , then Sam arrived :)
He re awakened my previous love of walking , giving me a new lease of life for sure, he makes me smile every day and has enriched my life in so many ways x
