Hello our Pepper is now 10 weeks old and very lively and happy likes driving too so far only to the vet and for dog shop, but in 2 weeks we would need to travel a little longer by car and stay in a hotel over the weekend she would not be alone of course. Is it ok or should the puppy stay home until certain weeks / months?is it to early to meet new people? Thanks Philipp
Hi and welcome. Has Pepper had all of her jabs? I personally wouldn't take such a small pup to a hotel for a weekend as they are still toilet training, can't walk far, needs lots of sleep and would need to be with you 24/7. That's only my opinion, others may differ.

We got Baxter last year a week before we were going on holiday (9 weeks old) it was a little unexpected and we wondered whether to take him. The breeder offered to keep him the two weeks we were away but we didn't want to miss a minute with him so we took him. In the car we put his bed in the back seat, he was in his harness and i sat in the back with him. He slept most of the way with plenty of pee stops on way, if he woke up we stopped to try a pee/poo and offer water. We took some puppy pads and just put him on them. We travelled about 5 hours with all the stops. We had booked a cottage so we just toilet trained as if at home and he had his crate with him which half had his bed in. As for going out and about it was great socialisation, he went everywhere with us. He went to the pub (a lot) was on a boat, a train and even a charabanc! He met loads of people and was handled a lot. Cons.. I would say It WAS hard work. In that two weeks he grew a lot so it got very tiring carrying him everywhere, at one point i bought a big cross over bag and put him in there lol he was comfy but he was so heavy that idea didn't last long. You also didn't get very far because people would stop to talk to him. It was fun though and now he's very good in pubs
Hi @Schulte I would agree with Naya that this could be a bit of a challenge! I would worry mostly about the potty training part particularly staying in a hotel. Might be easier somewhere that you can open a door and be out. Some hotels do have this facility though as well as hard floors. Obviously Bruer managed very well, even if it was hard work! I found staying away when my pup way 5 months a bit of a challenge and this was with family. Good luck whatever you decide x
I first took Mabel away with me when she was 14 weeks, it was to family. She was absolutely fine and no problem at all. When she was 20 weeks we hired a cottage in Cornwall and she was fine, we just had to remove all the rugs as she tried to chew them. It wasn't a leisurely holiday though I was always on my guard.
