How many sets of shots do the puppies usually need to be safe? How long after shots can dogs play? Thanks.

Re: When is puppy safe to play with other dogs and go to dog run? In the UK there are two vaccinations, also an additional kennel cough vaccination is optional. Vets usually advise waiting at least 7 days after the second vaccination before going out in public however I have known some vets say that puppies who are 7 days post first vaccination may socialise in the home with fully vaccinated adults. I think the advice differs by area to be honest. In the US I beleive it's 3 or 4 vaccinations and the advise is probably the same regarding not going to public places until at least 7 days after the last vaccination. I'm pretty sure you have to have a rabies vaccination too.
Re: When is puppy safe to play with other dogs and go to dog run? I took my lil gal to a puppy play time (when she was halfway through her shots) and all the dogs had to have up to date shots. She got a cough a few days later. Could be a coincidence, but the vet said it was similar to daycare. They can catch things easily. She suggested I wait until one week after her last round of shots...
