i have been training jasper for weeks, to go to the mat,he as been doing brilliant with this, going on the mat for longer intervals before release .....i was amazed at how well he was doing, you know he is a cushion muncher,.....every time we are going out the cushions have got to be moved, this morning after him being left for just one hour he as chewed the mat to shreds why oh why as he chewed something that he knows he gets treats when he is on it ? i can not punish him as i have not caught him in the act, however for the past half an hour i have given him the silent treatment,....and the little monkey as not come any where near me, any ideas how i can stop this munching
Re: when will he learn ? I sympathise for you, barley is the same, any chance he can get he will chew his bed, he has also passed this trait onto puzzle. We have not stopped him doing it, and he has been doing it since we have had him, so i can't be of much help. He has been through loads of beds, and his favourite thing to do with them is take them into the garden so they get really muddy, then he loves to play chase with them in his mouth, big baby at heart he is :
Re: when will he learn ? Oh Lynne,he's a monkey,I don't know......he'll probably grow out of it but can't tell you when,ii though he was better with cushions now?can he still not be trusted? X
Re: when will he learn ? Oh dear. Sorry cant advise as brodick is exactly the same...loves pillows and cushions and I'll quite often find him snook off in my bedroom gleefully flinging my pillows about...he also likes to get his vet bed out of his crate and charge about with it with tail very wagging then settle down for a chew. Strangely he doesnt chew it when he is in his crate...boys...
